Remote Patrol: Weezer, No Age, Low Anthem

Posted on Thu Oct 29 16:04:00 -0700 2009

Weezer, No Age, and Low Anthem make this week's list of notable music videos.

If video killed the radio star, what did the Internet do to the mix? Well, I guess it screwed up the old model and made distribution easier... Every week I will feature some of music’s newest, greatest, and weirdest videos. Just tune in and Remote Patrol will take care of the rest.

Weezer: "(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To"
The Weezer boys play dress up and fool around with CGI to create an old time feeling with a plot line that screams,"Bros before hos!" but without such profanity. All in all Weezerville looks like a pleasant place to visit. I'm so glad some harlot didn't manage to destroy it...

No Age: "Losing Feeling"
Now that's what I call an origin story. Gil Kenan directs this coming-of-age tale about a couple mice defying the odds, falling in love, following their dreams and becoming men... Well at least part of that is true. Recommended watching for children eight to 80.

Low Anthem: "Charlie Darwin"
The solemn tone of directors Glenn Tauton and Simon Taffe's claymation video for Rhode Island folk-rock combo Low Anthem's "Charlie Darwin" sets an ideal setting for the track where you can almost feel a sense silence in the visuals that take you along one man's reflection on his own existence. The lyrics counter the awesome supernatural and in the end our hero's world is washed clean as he and his skull sit on the edge of the world. (More or less.)

WATCH IT HERE (these Stereogum videos are not embedding properly).
