The Hold Steady performed a truly impressive extended set last night
for a live taping of the Daily Habit and Fuel TV. Bathhouse Studio
was a perfect venue for the private performance, the acoustics were
great and the crowd was just the right size to keep it intimate.
The energy the band was giving off was big enough for an entire
stadium, as they proved they are way more than just a badass bar
band. The crowd, ranging from skater kids to industry execs, all
became fans if theyweren’t already. Guests were happily singing
along to the boozy lyrics, appropriately with drinks in hand. The
band performed songs mostly from their newest album Stay Positive
and threw in a couple older favorites. The Hold Steady and Fuel TV
made it impossible not to stay positive last night. Enjoy some photos
of the performance and check out the full set on the Daily Habit!

Miike Snow's single "Animal" seems to have been everyone's Summer 09 anthem, so seeing them perform it live at Mercury Lounge last night was the perfect summer finale for those lucky enough to attend. They opened for Jack Penate for the first night of two sold out shows in NYC. The trio (plus 3 additional members) took the stage donning white masks and kicked off the performance with a heavy rendition of "Burial", and kept the crowd dancing through their solid hour long set.
Jack Penate followed, taking the stage after rubbing elbows with fans at the venue's bar. During his performance I couldn't keep this huge cheesy grin off my face cause he is just so damn adorable. He was having a blast, dancing and joking with the crowd, at one point busting out a freestyle rap. His crooning voice compliments his earnest, heart-wrenching lyrics beautifully, yet he never makes you feel down. Overall the night was delightfully intimate and unpretentious, which is refreshing amist the fashion week madness that has taken over NYC.
