Light Heavyweight Contender Debuts

LOS ANGELES, CA - The UFC’s biggest talker has a new place to speak his mind. Viewers can get their weekly dose of UFC Light Heavyweight Contender Chael Sonnen as the new addition to “UFC Tonight”, FUEL TV’s official weekly news and information show of the Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®). Sonnen makes his debut on Tuesday, January 29 (10:00 PM ET).

“Chael is such an accomplished fighter, and has never been one to be shy in front of the camera,” says UFC TONIGHT’s Florian. “He’s a friend of mine, so I expect we’ll have a lot of fun on UFC TONIGHT. Not only does he inject personality into everything he does, but he’s also extremely knowledgeable about the technical aspects of the sport.”
Sonnen’s quipped commentary and extensive knowledge of the UFC will complement the analysis done by Florian. Both have years of experience in the Octagon, allowing them to analyze all the news in the sport. Longtime sports host Leeann Tweeden and three-time World MMA Awards Journalist of the YearAriel Helwani will continue to work on the show with Sonnen and Florian.
Sonnen has served as an analyst for FUEL TV numerous times over the last year, and including stints on the network’s Weigh-in, Prefight, and Postfight shows. In addition, he’s hosted a reoccurring segment on UFC TONIGHT called Chael’s Corner where he offered his viewpoint to various topics in the sport.
Prior to joining the UFC TONIGHT, Sonnen has been in the MMA spotlight both in and out of the Octagon. The self-described “People’s Champ” has a 28-12-1 overall MMA record and has been a top contender in the UFC middleweight and light heavyweight divisions. Along with his duties on UFC TONIGHT, he can be seen coaching on THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER: TEAM JONES VS TEAM SONNEN - Season 17 on FX Tuesdays (9:00 PM ET) beginning January 22. Still an active fighter, Sonnen will take some time off from his hosting duties in the spring to prepare for his fight against Jon Jones in April.
