Danny Davis

Part superpipe gypsy, part backcountry hippy, Danny Davis is the vanguard of a new freestyle evolution—from all-time pipe runs to backcountry booters, he represents riding in its most expressive state. Danny grew up riding the frigid hills of Michigan, and landed on the Burton team after a 2005/2006 podium-strung season, a competitive output that also earned him the coveted Rookie of the Year award from both Snowboarder and Transworld.

Since his breakout year, he’s won countless contests, developed the Easy Livin board series, took the 2010 Mammoth Grand Prix over Shaun White (with a run many proclaimed the best in halfpipe history), and bagged multiple Dew Tour halfpipe titles. While his halfpipe style is in a league of its own, this Truckee local is just as comfortable in the woods, whether in his camper, splitboarding around Tahoe, or filming deep in the outback with Absinthe Films. 2011 saw him pop up as host for dancing-bear-influenced music festivals, and drop in for a welcome refresh with shots in Burton’s latest film Standing Sideways, and Brain Farm’s The Art of Flight.

Scotty Lago

Scotty Lago is an Olympic halfpipe Bronze and X-Games Medalist in 2 disiplines, bronze in SuperPipe (2006) and silver in Slopestyle (2009). He is a double threat exceling in both pipe and slope.

Jack Mitrani

Whoever said you’ve gotta have friends obviously didn’t know that the word “friends” isn’t actually spelled with an I. Just ask Jack Mitrani, part of the Frends crew – a group of pro snowboarders who, according to wearefrends.com, “are separate and unique beings, but are bonded together creating one body, much like the most awesome robot warrior of all time, Voltron.”

Sidelined for much of the 2008-09 competition season with a broken back – an injury he sustained in an attempt to break the world record for a quarterpipe air at the 2008 Billabong Air and Style event – Mitrani still made a bid for inclusion on the 2010 US Olympic team, taking 10th place at both the Mammoth Mountain and Copper stops of the Grand Prix.

Luke Mitrani

The younger Mitrani brother (Jack is older), Luke has the ingredients to be a top rider. In 2010, he made one major podium: 3rd place in Park City. Took second at the Dec. 2010 Grand Prix at Copper. Part of the close knit "Frends" crew, the 20-year-old rides for Mammoth Lakes and spends time in Tahoe

Keir Dillon

Raised skiing the vertical runs of Camel Back Mountain, Pennsylvania with his siblings, Keir first pursued snowboarding as a means to challenge himself. For several years, Keir dusted the competition at professional invitational Halfpipe and Quarterpipe events around the globe with a fluid style and hardcore competitive drive, and earned vast amounts of media coverage and notoriety for his accomplishments.

Today, Keir has parlayed his pro ranking into a career as an action sports television host and correspondent. Combining an entrepreneurial drive, quick-witted humor, and a familiarity with the gamut of board sports, Keir has established himself as an on-camera expert. He can also be found on FUEL TV as the Snow Correspondent for Action Sports Plus.

Todd Anders Johnson

Todd Anders Johnson is a professional musician and environmental activist. He has been producing music, recording and touring internationally for 20 years. Todd studied with Mbulelo Mzamane and J.R. Deep Ford at the University of Vermont and holds a BA in Regional Development from the University of Washington Geography department.

Todd’s band is called Salem, playing a blend of funk, jazz, and Hip-Hop. The group has toured consistently throughout the US and Canada for the last 5 years. We will catch up with them at Breckenridge’s legendary bar, The Motherloaded.

Chanelle Sladics

Chanelle started skateboarding and waterskiing at the age of 2 ½, soccer and swim team at 4, and roller hockey at 7. Her dare devil ways did not come without consequence. By the age of 12 she had already broken 7 bones, avoided amputation, and had a plethora of stitches and bruises. Always looking for ways to challenge herself, she took on all sports available to her skateboarding, snow skiing, waterskiing, soccer, basketball, roller hockey, softball, and karate.

After recovering from a 2-year injury, she decided to put her skate skills to the test and finally learned how to snowboard. She used her birthday money to sign up for lessons at the local mountains. Chanelle is a familiar face on the podium and in the magazines. When not competing, she spends her season filming around the world with Oakley’s Women’s Uniquely Film, starring as the only multi-discipline athlete.

Cameron Hunter

Cameron became a snowboarder at the age of 13 and has been riding ever since. During his third season of snowboarding he became a snowboard instructor. He then realized how much he enjoys teaching and became a member of the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI).

He is currently an instructor at the Breckenridge Method Academy. We will talk to him about the progression in freestyle snowboarding and how it has brought a whole new meaning to the snowboard lesson.
