Everaldo “Pato” Texeira

Everaldo “Pato” Texeira, was born in Blumenau, Santa Catarina, on July 15, 1974. Soon he moved to Penha, a city known for harboring Park Beto Carrero. Everaldo grew up with a very simple life. He started working very early, at 7 years of age. He played volleyball and football with friends because buying a surfboard was too expensive at the time. When Everaldo was 11, a friend of his father’s offered him a used board. His first week, he faced waves of up to 2 meters and his attitude and talent drew the attention of friends. From there, he never stopped.

In 1995, during a session in Indonesia, he rode one of the biggest waves ever photographed. From there, he traveled the world as a free surfer with stops in Hawaii, Brazil, France, and Chile. El Pato or “The Duck” launched a surf video in 2003 called “Psychopathological” and wants to create a sequel portraying the progression of the sport. Everaldo is nominated for the “Monster Tube” award at the 2012 Billabong Global Big Wave Awards.
