Jon received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Journalism from Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA. Upon graduating in 2001, Anik returned to Boston to work as a sports writer for the MetroWest Daily News. He eventually landed a job at Sporting News Radio in Boston, serving as afternoon drive host and Program Director. He also co-hosted ‘The Mouthpiece Boxing Show’ from 2005-2008.
Anik began his stint with ESPN in 2006 as a SportsCenter Anchor and fill-in host for ESPN Radio. In 2008, he was named the host of ESPN.com’s ‘MMA Live’. The show was picked up by ESPN2 in 2010. As the host of ‘MMA Live’, Anik has anchored more than 30 remote broadcasts at UFC events, including the historic UFC 100. His work on MMA Live also led to other opportunities in mixed martial arts. Prior to joining ESPN full-time, Anik served as the play-by-play voice for the inaugural season of Bellator Fighting Championships in 2009. He has gone on to call a handful of live events for ESPN, including the 2010 WBC heavyweight title fight between Vitali Klitschko and Shannon Briggs and most recently college football.
