Born and raised on the island of Maui, the ocean has always been considered a second home to her as she tagged along with her father every time he set out for a dive. She was able to see first hand what it took to spear your own food and be sustainable.
As she grew older, she lost touch with that aspect of her life and she went on to earn a culinary arts degree and became a chef. Even with those accomplishments, she felt that she had lost touch with what truly made her happy-- being one with nature.
She decided to move closer to the ocean and began diving again. In less than a year, she began competing and winning. She has won multiple spearfishing championships and has become world-renowned within the diving community. However, the biggest accomplishment she has made, was reconnecting once again with what gave her complete happiness. To her, diving feels like going home.
