Rich Franklin

 

Rich "Ace" Franklin earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics and later a master's degree in education at the University of Cincinnati. Prior to entering the UFC, he taught mathematics at Oak Hills High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Franklin fought in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter 1 Finale, the first live UFC card on cable TV. He faced former UFC champion Ken Shamrock and won the fight via a TKO. He got a title shot at UFC 53 and defeated Evan Tanner to win the UFC Middleweight Championship. At UFC 64, Franklin lost his title after being defeated by Anderson Silva.
