•    Won Fight of the Night for win over Nelson

•    3-1 between UFC appearances (all in Strikeforce) with wins over Fedor Emelianenko, Antonio Silva, and Mike Kyle. His only loss was via decision to Alistair Overeem in their 2011 rematch.

•    Holds two TKO wins over Gabriel Gonzaga

•    Eight wins by submission, five by knockout

•    Also owns wins over Tom Erikson, Alistair Overeem, and Aleksander Emelianenko.

•    Earned his nickname from playing soccer, where he was so quick, opponents would yell “Vai Cavalo” or “go horse”.

TRAINING:  My camp on Mon-Wed- Fri starts with BJJ with Joao Assis - then Muay Thai and MMA with Master Rafael Cordeiro and conditioning with John. Tuesday and Thursday I did wrestling training with Kenny Johnson . Now I'm in Brazil, already finishing my camp at Andre Dida’s gym with Master Cordeiro, Wanderlei Silva and Shogun Rua .

When and why did you start training for fighting? When? I started when I was 20. Why? All I can say is it involved a woman.

Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? Jiu Jitsu World Champion (blue belt), Jiu Jitsu European Champion,  Jiu Jitsu Pan-American Champion (three times)

Specific accomplishments in pro competition? Jiu Jitsu World Champion (black belt, two times), 2007 ADCC World Champion

Ranks in martial arts styles? Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Brown Belt in Judo.

What is your favorite technique? kimura

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? I’m excited to fight in the Octagon.  I’ll show my best performance and prove that I am also one of the best HW in the world.

What was your job before you started fighting? BJJ teacher
